Have you ever given up on a dream because others didn’t believe you could make it? Have you ever felt alone, like no one loved or appreciated you? Have you ever given someone your heart only to find that they really wasn’t deserving of it? Have you ever loved and never received it in return, but didn’t realize it until it was too late? Have you ever heard people talk about you, discussing things that they heard and believing them, without hearing your side? Have you ever smiled because life was better than what people told you and you had faith that you could be anything possible? If you answered yes to any of these question, you are a person who either let the adversity take over to stop you from becoming a person you always dreamed of or you proved to yourself that either with or without a single person you will still reign supreme no matter what obstacles you had to go through or overcome. Just like many individuals in this world, Charron Monaye, was a person that was faced with these situations, adversity, jealously, and pain in order to fulfill every goal.

“Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance” is a quote often recited by United States Army officer Hernando C. Flowers. A 23 year old Detroit native, Hernando has always had a desire to serve not only his country, but his community as well. He consistently embarks upon ways to accomplish this by participating in various activities to include Relay For Life, Breast Cancer Awareness Walks, working at homeless shelters and food banks, and a plethora of other activities that both inspire and improve the community and those who reside in it. Education is one of Hernando’s priorities. He is a graduate from the top ranked Stephen M. Ross School of Business with a BBA concentrating in Marketing and Management. Currently, he is working on his Master of Arts in Human Resources Management from Webster University, while working full time for the Army. In order to stress the importance of education and help others realize it as well, he consistently tries to ensure that he contributes to the ever dwindling Detroit Public School System. While attending Renaissance High School, he began tutoring middle and elementary school students in various subjects to include math, English, as well as standardized test preparation. His service continues to this day, even while serving in the military, by making frequent trips and arrangements to speak to high school students about financial aid opportunities, college admissions, and military opportunities.
